Deputy Manager – children’s home

We are working in partnership with a provider of children’s services to recruit a Deputy Manager for their children’s home in Sefton, Merseyside. This is a fantastic opportunity to join a progressive organisation where you will play a key role in the operational management of the home, supporting the Registered Manager in delivering high standards of care for children with emotional and behavioural difficulties (EBD).

As Deputy Manager, you will support the leadership and development of the staff team, ensure compliance with Ofsted standards, and contribute to the overall success and growth of the service.

What we’re ideally looking for:

• Level 3 in Residential Childcare (minimum) and willingness to complete Level 5 in Leadership & Management
• Strong experience supporting children with EBD and/or learning disabilities
• Previous supervisory or management experience in a residential childcare setting
• Sound knowledge of Ofsted regulations and safeguarding legislation
• Full UK driving licence (desirable, not essential)
• Flexibility to work shifts, including sleep-ins.

Key responsibilities:

• Support the Registered Manager with the day-to-day running of the home
• Lead, supervise, and mentor the staff team to deliver high-quality care
• Oversee rota management, staff supervisions, and appraisals
• Ensure all care plans, risk assessments, and records are accurate and up to date
• Promote the safeguarding and welfare of all children within the home
• Work collaboratively with parents, carers, and external professionals
• Drive continuous improvement to maintain and exceed Ofsted standards
• Step into the role of Acting Manager in the absence of the Registered Manager
