Deputy Manager – children’s home

We are working in partnership with a provider of children’s services to recruit a Deputy Manager for their children’s home in Maghull, Liverpool. This is an excellent opportunity to join a supportive and progressive organisation where you will play a key role in leading the team and ensuring the highest standards of care for children with emotional and behavioural difficulties (EBD).

As Deputy Manager, you will support the Registered Manager in the operational running of the home, lead shifts, and mentor the staff team to deliver therapeutic, child-focused care that promotes positive outcomes.

What we’re ideally looking for:

• Level 3 in Residential Childcare (or equivalent qualification)
• Strong experience supporting children with EBD or LD in a residential setting
• Previous supervisory or leadership experience
• Sound knowledge of safeguarding, Ofsted regulations, and children’s homes legislation
• Flexibility to work a shift pattern, including sleep-ins
• A driving licence is desirable but not essential

Key responsibilities:

• Support the Registered Manager in the day-to-day operations of the home
• Lead shifts, supervise staff, and ensure a safe and nurturing environment for young people
• Oversee staff supervisions, appraisals, and development
• Ensure care plans, risk assessments, and records are accurate and up to date
• Safeguard and promote the welfare of children at all times
• Work collaboratively with parents, carers, and external professionals
• Contribute to continuous improvement and preparation for Ofsted inspections
